As Ordering Manager for this mission I received the call at 10:50 p.m. on October 31st 2021 requesting ground pounders and communications support for a 60 year old male who had gotten separated from his hunting buddies. By 12:13 a.m. on November 1st we decided more resources were needed and the Brigade was contacted. Seven members eventually headed out to a location north of the town of Pecos and about 15 miles off the pavement on rough roads. I, of course, stayed behind and continued as Ordering Manager. The Brigade ended up with a few different missions. One was ground pound and clear roads in the area and later conduct a grid search close to the point last seen looking for clues or the subject in case they were unresponsive and nearby. Secondly, two of our members provided communications support for the mission. Finally, one member was support for a canine team from the Mountain Canine Corps. Around 5:00 p.m. the subject walked out at Harvey Ranch in good shape. The folks at Harvey Ranch contacted officials as well as a mounted SAR team that had been at the ranch earlier and left their number. Shortly thereafter the subject was reunited with family. Many thanks to Atalaya SAR, Cibola SAR, Mountain Canine Corp., New Mexico Mounted SAR and Santa Fe SAR Group for also responding.
