Rodeo and Derby Medical Support

Coverage at this years rodeo was, fortunately, rather uneventful as reported by Tom Houlton. The rodeo occurs on both Saturday and Sunday for a handful of hours each day. You are either out in the hot sun or getting drenched with rain so hats off to those that cover the event. A cowboy had his hand get caught while bull riding twisting his wrist. The team iced the wrist and suggested he get it x-rayed. A second injury involved a young woman driving a monster sliver from one of the old poles at the arena under a fingernail. Our team was not able to remove it and advised her to go to the emergency room.

LAAFB Medical Support for Roller Derby Double Header – August 13, 2022 Report by Fernando Garzon.

Brigade EMTs provided medical support for junior and adult roller derby games at the LA ice skating rink on August 13, 2022, from 1700 to 2200. For the junior teams, Los Alamos Cherry Bombs played against the Cheyenne Fronterrors, and the adult Los Alamos Derby Dames faced the Cheyene Capidolls.

These were exciting games because this was the first time that Los Alamos has played against other teams for three years since the pandemic. The Cherry Bombs and Derby Dames have been active the past years playing scrimmages amongst their own members, and we have taken pride and pleasure to provide medical support for them throughout the years.

Our EMTs treated two junior players.
