Missing Alzheimer’s Person – Mission 62 Santa Fe

May 23rd 0 dark thirty. Ok, actually 12:06 a.m. our SAR team leader sends out a text looking for ground pounders to assist in searching for a 79 year old Alzheimer’s person south of Santa Fe. Four of us leave the Barn (CD-1) at 12:45 a.m. We arrive at incident base about an hour later just in time to hear one of the Santa Fe SAR teams has made voice contact with the subject. A short time later the Santa Fe team is with the subject and the incident commander starts working out a plan to get her to definitive medical care. The Brigade team is assigned the task of meeting up with the Santa Fe team and scouting out options to move the subject who due to injuries is unable to move on her own. We scout out a route for a State Police ATV to reach the subject and guide the ATV in. Once safely on her way we walk back to our vehicle, checkout at incident base and arrive back home around 5:30 a.m.
